Math - Area with shapes
These wonderful students are making 3D house with shapes. It is their Real Life Math project to help them get started with building a house. They also have to find the Area.
This is a student making their house a 2D version, it can also be moved to be in 3D. But that is after the process of building their house with paper.
Take a look at the students......I wonder how they're going to build their houses? Well, it looks like they are placing papers down on the ground to design a house. This will help them get an idea of what they're going to do for their 3D houses.
To find the Area, they have different sizes of paper, and they multiply the different sized papers separately. Then they add them all together to get the total square footage of their houses. Once they have a house designed that is between 1500 and 2000 square feet, they will sketch the house out.
All these students will walk around for a tour of the houses, and we'll ask questions. After the tours, they would have an idea to build they're 3D houses. But before they are building they're 3Dhouses they have to check if the square footage is correct.
